Spring is here again and with summer coming up, many people want to get back into the summer healthy, fit and slim. At Nurture Your Nature, we are happy to help you with this beautiful, but sometimes challenging, undertaking: losing weight.
We are your health coach and help you look at your body, health, nutrition and exercise in a different way. But above all, we support your body to function more efficiently, so that losing weight is easier and more natural.
Losing weight, what do acupuncture and herbs help with?
The most important effect of the treatment is that you are better able to achieve your goals. Exactly what that means varies from person to person.
One person needs more energy to get moving. The other needs support in digestion or regulating the feeling of hunger. In yet another, blood flow or circulation plays a major role.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can help with:
- Balancing the body, with more circulation and energy
- Improving digestion
- Removal of waste, including fat and phlegm
- Reducing the urge to eat and snack
- More mental strength to maintain new habits
Not an easy problem
You probably already knew that losing weight isn't easy. During treatment, we therefore first look at the underlying physical causes that make losing weight difficult.
This may be due, for example, to slow digestion or defecation, or to reduced energy from one or more body systems as described in Chinese medicine. Important themes here include blood and energy, heat and cold.
The functioning of organs such as the stomach and spleen, liver, kidneys and intestines also plays a major role. These systems can be burdened by an accumulation of waste, such as fat and slime. In turn, these wastes disrupt other body processes and obstruct circulation, making weight loss even more difficult.
Treatment with acupuncture and/or herbs
When it is clear what the underlying cause is for you, we will draw up a treatment plan together. In doing so, we break the complex pattern described above.
In treatment, we often work on cause and effect at the same time. For example, if there is a lot of waste due to slow digestion, we strengthen the digestive system on the one hand so that it works more efficiently. At the same time, we ensure that waste is disposed of better.
Good circulation is essential for that drainage. By improving the flow, we stimulate the body to get processes going again. This is exactly what acupuncture and herbal treatment do: balance and activate the right systems so that the body as a whole functions better.
Exercise and a healthy diet
Exercise and a healthy diet are of course important in achieving a healthy weight. However, many people find that a healthier lifestyle does not directly lead to weight loss. That can be very frustrating.
You do your best, eat healthy and exercise more, but see little results. Or you want to move but lack the energy or motivation to get started. In such cases, patience is important. First, certain blockages must be removed so that your body can function better.
When that happens, you automatically get more energy. Step by step, exercise becomes easier and the first results provide extra motivation. This creates a process that you can design and maintain yourself.
Sustainable solution vs quick fix
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are powerful tools for balancing the body. They help increase energy, strengthen digestion and support fat burning.
This makes them a valuable weight loss supplement, but not a quick trick. The focus is on a sustainable solution. We help you through difficult hurdles, so that you are then able to maintain your new, healthy habits yourself.
Nutrition tips for a healthy digestive system
Good digestion starts with regular, varied and warm food. Heat and fiber support the body, while cold and fat can put a strain on it.
A few practical tips:
- Eat a hot breakfast; oatmeal is a great start to the day
- Take time to eat calmly and leisurely
- Drink warm water
- Move daily
- Avoid greasy and fried foods
- Be moderate with dairy
- Be moderate with alcohol
- Add soups to your diet more often
Pre- and probiotics and vitamin D3 can support intestinal flora and help reduce inflammatory reactions. Probiotics can be found in sauerkraut, yoghurt, kefir and kombucha, for example.
And finally: ginger is an excellent digestive aid.
